Education Co-Lead and Cape Town Regional Director
Sherylle held various leadership positions throughout her career, culminating in her appointment as Regional Director of the Legal Resources Centre (LRC), one of the oldest social justice and historical influencers in the abolishment of apartheid and defender of our constitutional democracy.
Prior to joining the LRC, Sherylle worked at the Equal Education Law Centre leading key litigation on advancing the right to basic education in South Africa and Lawyers for Human Rights heading up their regional refugee and migrant rights programme. Her position at Lawyers for Human Rights allowed her to develop expertise in International and Refugee Law.
Outside of her work at the LRC, she has always been an active contributor to activism and social justice through various governance positions she held in civil society organisations. Notably, she held the position of Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Sonke Gender Justice, which resonated with her passion for gender equality and the eradication of all forms of prejudice and violence against women and children. She also held the position of Chairperson of Refugee Social Services and the Durban Refugee Service Providers Network.
