Grants Management Officer

Philani joined the LRC in May 2019 as a Grants Management Officer. His role at the LRC includes proper management of donor funding and relations, drafting of funding proposals, conducting prospect research to identify new funding opportunities, monitoring the implementation of project activities, and drafting and submitting progress reports to funders.  He has over eight years of programme and donor relations management experience within the NGO sector in South Africa. 

Previously, he worked at the Foundation for Human Rights (FHR) as a Project Officer for over six years, managing the implementation of FHR’s land rights and food security project. 

Philani holds the following degrees: a Bachelor of Arts (majoring in International Relations and Media Studies), a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Media Studies and a Master of Arts in Politics all from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Entrepreneurship from the University of Pretoria and is currently completing a Master of Business Administration through Heriot-Watt University.
